Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare to assist with well control
- Obtain, read and confirm work requirements
- Access, interpret and apply well control documentation and confirm work activity is compliant
- Identify and minimise environmental issues and potential hazards, and assess and address risks within scope of own role and according to workplace procedures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activity
- Communicate with other personnel on site as required and confirm briefings and handover details are communicated and received
- Assist with well control activities
- Monitor flows and returns for required volumes and rates, and report inconsistencies to driller
- Assist in operating well control pumps according to job requirements and workplace procedures
- Read and interpret measuring devices to monitor required operation of well control process and equipment
- Communicate operational information to other crew members during well control operations
- Assist in installing and maintaining equipment according to job requirements and workplace procedures
- Participate in emergency drills and exercises
- Monitor and report safety issues
- Identify, address and report hazards associated with well control under varying working conditions
- Recognise kick indicators and advise driller during well control operations
- Identify and report ignition sources as required
- Identify and report sources and presence of flammable gases and emissions as required
- Identify and report running well control equipment malfunctions as required
